Head Coach Chris Cooper

For the past five years, Coach Christopher Cooper has led both the boys varsity and junior varsity cross country teams with commitment, passion, and a deep belief in the power of team culture. With a coaching philosophy rooted in building a “family-like team,” Coach Cooper emphasizes trust, accountability, and mutual support among his athletes. He believes that when runners feel valued, connected, and motivated by one another, they can achieve outstanding results on and off the course.

Coach Cooper has developed a reputation for combining disciplined training plans with a positive, athlete-centered approach. His teams are known not only for their competitiveness, but also for their unity, character, and work ethic. He encourages athletes to set meaningful goals, celebrate progress, and embrace the challenges that come with long-distance running.

Under his guidance, both varsity and JV squads have grown in competitiveness, depth, and overall team cohesion. Coach Cooper’s leadership extends beyond practices and races — he fosters strong mentor-athlete relationships and strives to teach life lessons about perseverance, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Driven by a love for the sport and a genuine care for his athletes, Coach Christopher Cooper continues to build a high-character, high-performance cross country program centered on teamwork, growth, and family.

Assistant Coach Ja’Quez T Felder

From being a former captain for GC cross country in 23’ to now their assistant coach, driven by my passion to help others improve. I know the hard work it takes and love seeing my runners reach their goals and grow both mentally and physically. One piece of advice I tell my runners is that “the price of success is that it always comes with pain and fear. If you can endure those through your will and determination no one will stop you but your doubt”. I am extremely proud of what our team has achieved this season and excited to keep getting better together. This is just the beginning.
