
Spring has sprung! We hope all our students have a safe and fun spring break! Students will return to school April 21.


The BCSD Student, Teacher, and Parent Climate Surveys window opened on Monday March 3rd and will close Friday March 21st. All students in grades 3-12 and all teachers, librarians, guidance counselors, ROTC instructors, career specialists, and speech therapists are expected to participate in the survey. Ready to solve the case of the missing breakfast? National School Breakfast Week starts today! To celebrate, students will get to try new menu items for breakfast and be entered to win daily and grand prizes from BCSD Child Nutrition Services.

Feb. 3-7 is National School Counseling Week, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our school counselors for the role they play in student achievement and success.

Due to concerns about icy conditions and the ongoing impact of inclement weather, Berkeley County School District students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Friday, January 24. In response to ongoing forecasts for wintry weather, to include the potential for snow, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) announced that schools will follow the half-day dismissal bell schedule on Tuesday, January 21. ACCESS Testing begins Wednesday. This is a mandated test administered to all multilingual learner (ML) students. The ACCESS testing will begin on Wednesday, January 22nd and goes through March 7th.

Last night, one of our bus drivers and one of our students, Mr. Charles and Kameron, were recognized at BCSD's school board meeting! Dan Michener, the school district's videographer, made a video about Mr. Charles and Kameron's friendship in May 2023. The video -- "Mr. Charles Makes a Difference in Kameron's Life" -- won a National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Emmy this year and led to the board recognition!

The Federal Impact Aid Forms are live on your Parent Portal. This form is required for each student enrolled in Berkeley County who attends school full-time. The deadline to submit is November 15th. Log into your Parent Portal through a desktop and click forms on the left-hand side of the screen. Please email Mrs. Bokern at bokernk@bcsdschools.net for assistance.


Mrs. Hermann’s and Mrs. Champoux’s classes used their text evidence and inferencing skills to discover what may have happened to the colonists at the first English Colony of Roanoke. They then were able to prove their conclusions using their evidence.

This week is Red Ribbon Week. We are celebrating with a different theme each day! Please remember that Thursday is costume day. Students can wear their costumes without props or masks. We can't wait to see everyone this week!!


Ms. Allen & Ms. Cronizer’s class got into the spirit of Cancer Awareness by having everyone wear their cheerful pink class shirts! It was a wonderful way to show support and spread awareness together.


Strong reading skills lead to a bright future for our students. A big thank you to our volunteers from Berkeley Electric Cooperative and Santee Cooper who came to read to our students for BCSD's Literacy Powerhouse Reading Week.

Berkeley County School District will utilize the Teacher Workday/Inclement Weather Day on October 11 as a weather make-up, e-Learning Day for students, as designated in the BCSD Instructional Calendar. This adjustment is necessary due to the postponement of the first day of school from August 14 to August 15, following impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.

Due to forecasted impacts of Hurricane Helene, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Friday, September 27. All after-school activities and after-school care programs will close at 6 p.m. this evening.
All schools and offices will be closed Friday, and before and after-school care programs are canceled. As the storm system is projected to move out of the area that afternoon, after school activities may resume after 4 p.m. on Friday.
